Slot cars are powered mini cars which are guided by a slot in the track on which they run. A blade extends from the base of the car into the slots on the tracks. Slot cars are mainly used in slot car racing. These cars are mostly miniature models of real automobiles but some of the vehicles are especially designed for miniature racing. A hand-held remote control is used to regulate the motor of these mini cars.
These cars are of three main sizes 1/24, 1/32 and the HO size which is between 1/87 and 1/64. The first ever slot car that appeared in a company’s catalogue were of Lionel Corp. in 1912. The olden racing tracks were made of folded metal and molded rubber where today, they fall into two categories- routed and plastic tracks. You can check out these items locally in Los Angeles.
