A beanie baby is a beanbag plush animal designed to be played with and started to evolve as a popular collectible item in late 1990s. Beanie babies were first launched by Ty Inc. Initially, nine Beanie babies were introduced in 1993. They were Squealer the Pig, Flash the Dolphin, Legs the Frog, Spot the Dog, Splash the Whale, Patti the Platypus, Punchers the Lobster, Brownie the Bear, and Chocolate the Moose.
The launch was phenomenal and their popularity reached the greatest height in 1995 when Beanie Babies emerged as both a collectible and a craze. The fad extended up to 1999 and gradually reduced followed by the company’s announcement that they will no longer be making Beanie Babies. “The End” was the Ty’s last Beanie baby. Until the retirement, Ty had made over 250 styles of Beanie babies. Some very notable Beanie Babies include Princess the Bear, Decade the Bear, and Barcia the Bear. All of these Beanie Babies can be found locally in Los Angeles.
