The accordion & concertina are two instruments which are very similar in style. The main difference between the two is that concertina has the keys moving with the bellows while in the accordion the keys move perpendicular to the bellows.
Both the accordion and concertina are relatively old instruments. They have been used throughout the history of music for a number of different purposes. Today they are most commonly seen in polka music although they have even been used on a rear occasion in certain types of rock music.
