There are many other music formats from the standard mp3, CD audio and DVD audio. These offer music utilizing formats and mediums which are different from the current standards.
There is a huge list of formats which have been available over the course of musical history and some that are common even today though not as common as CD’s, DVD’s and MP3’s. Some of the oldest styles include records, 8-track and cassette tapes. Today most of these items are collectible because they are difficult to find, especially in working condition. One of the newer formats which are considered less common but still regularly used is the WMA format. This is a digital format, like MP3, but unlike mp3 it has built in copyright protection making it the format of choice for some portable digital music players.
Finding music in other music formats from the most common formats can be done. Many of these can even be found locally in Los Angeles.
