The term “Disneyana” was informally used among collectors in the 1960s and 1970s. However, the term gained enormous popularity with the publication of Disneyana: Walt Disney Collectibles by Cecil Munsey in 1974. It is used to refer to books, theme-park souvenirs, toys, animation celluloid’s, and other valuable things considered worth collecting that was created by The Walt Disney Company.
Disneyana collectibles are the items that feature famous animation characters like Tinker Bell and Mickey Mouse. Disneyana collectors grew during the 1980s and 1990s. Today, disneyana collectibles can be found locally in and around Los Angeles.
The term “Disneyana” is not protected by a copyright law; however, The Walt Disney Corporation has launched its new Disneyana Store on Main Street, Disney Land, US.
