Ford launched Mercury back in 1939 by introducing the model Mercury Eight. The vision was to make luxury cars available to those who previously could not afford them. The 1950s to the 1970s saw models like the Turnpike Cruiser, the Park Lane, the Cougar and the Marquis. It sold hundreds of thousands of models in the seventies and yet again in the nineties. The nineties also saw the introduction of mini vans and SUVS from the Mercury segment. Some of its recent models have been Mercury Marauder sedan, Mercury Cougar sports coupe, and Mercury Montego large sedan.
